France center Danty could miss rest of Six Nations after red card in Italy draw

LILLE, France (AP) — France center Jonathan Danty looks set to miss the rest of the Six Nations after he was red-carded in the 13-13 draw with Italy on Sunday.

Danty’s upright head-on-head tackle on center Juan Ignacio Brex in first-half injury time earned him a yellow card.

A bunker review during halftime, when France led 10-3, found no mitigation and the card was upgraded to red.

Les Tricolores spent the entire second half a man short and escaped with a draw after Italy flyhalf Paolo Garbisi hit the post with a last-gasp penalty.

It was Danty’s first red card in a test match, and second red of the season. He was sent off in December while playing for his La Rochelle club.

He faces a disciplinary hearing this week. Most sanctions for dangerous tackles such as his have cost players three games.

France has two games left, at Wales in two weeks followed by England back home.
